Make no mistake, The Walking Dead is still the highest-rated series on TV — by quite a wide margin.

Sunday's midseason finale has already grown by roughly a third in all measurements now that live-plus-three day ratings are in, averaging 18.3 million viewers and a massive 9.3 rating among adults 18-49.

The Walking Dead, which saw its first slight season-to-season dip with its fall 2015 return, has been recouping more viewers with time-shifting. That extends to this mideason ender, which is also in line with the comparable 2014 episode.

AMC freshman neighbor Into the Badlands faces a big test when it airs without The Walking Dead as a lead-in this coming Sunday, but its own DVR views make it pretty clear that many viewers are going out of their way to watch the show. Its latest episode saw a 30 percent lift, rising to 6.7 million viewers a 3.2 rating among adults 18-49.
