'Fargo's' Noah Hawley Inks New Deal at FX Productions, Developing 2 New Dramas

Given his full dance card at the network, it comes as no surprise that Noah Hawley is staying with FX. The celebrated Fargo creator, enjoying three Golden Globe nominations on Thursday, has reupped his overall deal at FX Productions — where he's busy working on no fewer than three TV projects.

The three-year deal follows his first pact with the John Landgraf-led operation back in 2014. And comes as the prolific 48-year-old commits to a third installment of critically acclaimed Fargo, while developing a limited series based on Kurt Vonnegut's Cat's Cradle and preparing to produce and write a pilot based on Marvel property Legion. Joining that development slate are two new projects: Hellhound on His Trail and The Hot Rock.

“In a remarkably short time, Noah has proven himself to be one of the best writers and showrunners in television with the stunning, back-to-back success of the Fargo franchise,” said Landgraf. “He loves to challenge himself creatively and has a gift for making complex stories engaging and entertaining. We are excited to continue to work closely with Noah and offer all the support he needs to fully realize his vision for these new projects.”

Fargo has been a huge success for FX. Before Thursday's Globes announcement, the first season pulled in a whopping nabbed 18 nominations and three wins. That included a triumph for outstanding miniseries.

As for the new projects, both of which see Hawley serving as EP, he will not be writing. Hellhound on His Trail, based on the book by Hampton Sides, is being adapted by Alex Woo. John Cameron, Bluegrass Films' Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark will also serves as executive producers. It's based on the 65-day search for Martin Luther King Jr. assassin James Earl Ray.

The Hot Rock, based on the 1972 caper film and book of the same name, is being written by Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi. Hawley, Cameron and Barry Josephson join them as EPs.

Hawley is repped by CAA and McKuin Frankel Whitehead.
