CBS handily won Tuesday night, thanks in most part to a crossover between NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans.

The parent series raked in a whopping 18.7 million viewers, climbing 25 percent in the key demo for an average 2.6 rating among adults 18-49. New Orleans was just a few feet behind the original, hitting its best deliveries in a year. The show climbed 41 percent in the key demo, averaging a 2.4 rating.

Limitless benefited from the added eyeballs, though just a shade. It was steady with a 1.3 rating among adults 18-49.

NBC was in reasonably good shape without The Voice. A smaller lead-in from Hollywood Game Night (1.2 adults) led into reasonably steady episodes of Chicago Med (1.9 adults) and Chicago Fire (1.8 adults).

On Fox, the latest version of its Tuesday comedy block kicked off with the return of New Girl. The comedy was the network's highest-rated of the night in the key demo, averaging a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49. The new lineup saw Grandfathered (1.0 adults) and The Grinder (0.8 adults) hold steady — though Brooklyn Nine-Nine was slightly humbled in its move from Sunday nights, where its gotten lifts from NFL overrun. The comedy's return to Tuesday averaged a 1.2 rating in the key demo.

Repeats dominated the first hour of ABC, but Shark Tank (1.2 adults) and spinoff Beyond the Tank (1.1 adults) were both original.
